From 19 to 25 February 2018, the Arctic Design Week invites you to Rovaniemi, Finland, to experience the festival for the 10th time. True to this year’s motto "It’s Time to Think Outside the Box", the Finnish festival seeks to inspire new ways of looking at design and business models by presenting innovative design talks, workshops and design exhibitions – including International Design Center Berlin’s travelling exhibition "Reconsider Design".
"Reconsider Design" presents 30 excellent ecodesign projects from the Baltic Sea region in four everyday-life categories: Learning & Playing, Consuming & Eating, Enabling & Moving as well as Dressing & Wearing. With the combination of creativity, innovation and environmental responsibility, the selected cases demonstrate the successful implementation of sustainability strategies in products and services. The exhibition will serve as a "design check point" during MISHMASH, a conference that takes place within the framework of Arctic Design Week at Pilke Science Center. An accompanying workshop will furthermore introduce participants to the guiding principles of the circular economy and explore the concept of circular design. It will provide answers to the questions: What does circular design mean? What are the most important viewpoints that every designer should know?
After Arctic Design Week "Reconsider Design" will stay on display at Pilke Science Center until 11 March 2018.
Both "Reconsider Design" and the accompanying workshop are part of the EU project "EcoDesign Circle – Ecodesign as a Driver of Innovation in the Baltic Sea Region", which is supported by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region (BSR) Programme 2014-2020.
