The Belgian regional design organisations FlandersDC, MAD Brussels and Wallonie-Bruxelles Design Mode (WBDM) have been working together since 2007 to promote Belgian design under the Belgium is Design label.This year, for the first time, FlandersDC and WBDM join forces at the SaloneSatellite, where five young Belgian designers (i.e. PaulinePlusLuis, Amorce Studio, Laurent Verly, Rope project / Leila Boukhalfa and Gewoon David) will appear together.
For a successful start to the career – Red Dot: Junior Award is looking for talents in communication design
Trainees, students and young professionals are also encouraged to demonstrate their design expertise – in the Red Dot: Junior Award, which is part of the international design competition. The best piece of work by an up-and-coming designer will receive the Red Dot: Junior Prize, with prize money of 10,000€.
The third edition of the Specialising Master in Color Design & Technology will be held in collaboration with the Associazione Italiana Colore. The Master aims to provide advanced training to professionals, so as to enable them to understand and manage the many technological and design issues, often across many disciplinary areas, typical of all those professional and research sectors in which the use and management of color are essential.
Design education making a mark in Finnish primary schools – events attract more than 2,000 participants
Design education is intended to encourage children to “think like inventors” and provides them with the tools they will need to face the challenges of the future. A joint project by the Finnish Association of Designers Ornamo and Design Museum Helsinki, which ran from 2015 until 2017, piloted a new design education syllabus, delivered through the Kids Design Academy after school clubs.
Design Week Lithuania is an annual event dedicated to the synthesis of insightful solutions, original ideas and professional performance, while highlighting the value of good design. In 2018, the festival will take place for the 13th time, from 7 to 13 May 2018, in six cities in Lithuania – Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Telšiai and Anykščiai.
Outstanding products, services and concepts focusing on environmental compatibility, good design and transparency can be submitted for the German Federal Ecodesign Award 2018 until 9 April 2018. Submitted projects must be available or planned to be released on the German market.
The "Circular Design Forum" is an international conference on circular economy and ecodesign. Organised by the International Design Center Berlin in cooperation with partners from the Baltic Sea Region, the conference will take place on 14 June 2018 at the EUREF Campus in Berlin. It will be part of this year’s Open Source Circular Economy Days Berlin.
Hungary’s biggest event of design celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. Founded and sponsored by the Hungarian Intellectual Property Office and organised by the Hungarian Design Council, Budapest Design Week is most definitely the most important design-related event of the country.
