3 17European House of Design Management: SHAPE Better Services successfully launched

A new user-friendly, online, tailor made design management resource, enabling public sector change-makers with a tool to innovate and develop the services they deliver, was launched at the European Commission in September.

An invaluable design management tool developed specifically for the Public Sector to deliver better services is now live and available to access.

Launched at the European Commission in September, in a presentation attended by policy and programme officers from three DGs as well as representatives of the European Design Innovation Initiative projects, and followed by a second conference at the ERRIN Design Days the following day, SHAPE Better Services has generated massive interest and positive response.

SHAPE Better Services is a new user-friendly, online, tailor made design management resource, which will equip the people in the public sector responsible for change with a tool to innovate and change the services they deliver.

The access to the resource and the stage-by-stage structure is free and requires no registration, while the full copy, stage-by-stage and step-by-step design management guidelines can be accessed still free of charge, but against registration and consent to be contacted. Access to the full copy plus all support facilities (cases studies, tools, work sheets and project map etc.) – is offered either for a limited number of licenses or for an unlimited number of users within an organisation against a paid, annual subscription.

SHAPE also offers design management training sessions, bespoke training programmes and consultancy services. Users from across Europe (as well as countries like Australia and Taiwan ) have already registered, while the first paid subscriptions are currently ticking in.

SHAPE is the culmination of three years of research and development by the European House of Design Management (EHDM) involving three BEDA members as partners, as well as two Italian partners representing regional innovation and business development. The EHDM is the last out of six pilot projects co-funded by the European Commission under the 1st Action Plan of the European Design Innovation Initiative (EDII).
