Design Forum FinlandDesign Forum Finland share the results of the Fennia Prize 2017, won this year by the Merivaara Corporation.

Design is part of the business operations of the most successful companies. The results of the Fennia Prize 2017 design competition, announced 19 January 2017, explicitly indicated that the use of design brings advantage in international success and helps create a strong and distinctive brand. The Fennia Prize Grand Prix of €10,000 was awarded to Merivaara Corporation, a company that has made use of design in its product development for several years.

Design or Die know your IPRDesign or Die is a collaborative program to help educate and provide new skill sets for Finnish designers and design students.

Design education providers must be able to respond to the shifting needs of the job market and wider society. The immaterial value generated by design is increasingly important as material values decline, and it is important that designers have the skills that reflect this development.

Design for Europe partners KEPA (Business and Cultural Development Centre) and Luxinnovation together with MBB (Malta Business Bureau), ambassador of DfE in Malta, will start soon a new Horizon 2020 project with the name DesignShots.

It is with admiration and fondness that we remember Gavin Cawood who passed away at the end of November 2016. Gavin worked at PDR (International Design and Research Centre) at Cardiff Metropolitan University for 21 years.
