10 18IDZ call for nominations for sustainable products, services and concepts for the fourth edition of this prestigious award.

Good design must convince both aesthetically and ecologically. The German Federal Ecodesign Award recognises sustainable products, services and concepts that are outstanding in their design. Companies, design agencies, start-ups and students are all invited to submit innovative solutions until 11 April 2016. Since 2012, the Federal Ecodesign Award has been granted annually by the Federal Environment Ministry (BMUB) and the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) in cooperation with the International Design Center Berlin (IDZ).

Ornamo report on the benefits of commissioning visual arts as part of construction schemes.

As a tool for enhancing sense of belonging and brand identity, the use of visual arts as part of building projects is positively received among art commissioners. This was clearly stated in a survey commissioned for Percent for Art project. 109 professionals from the construction and cultural sectors filled in the questionnaire in November 2015.

From March 4 to 7, Berlin Showroom presents nine selected fashion labels from Berlin at Fashion Week Paris. 17 18Innovative electronic devices, digital solutions and services which set new standards in user orientation and design are sought for the UX Design Awards.

As of now the International Design Center Berlin invites companies and agencies to submit product solutions and services for the UX Design Awards 2016. The Awards honour electronic devices, digital solutions and services which set new innovative standards in user orientation and design. All nominated product solutions will be showcased in a special exhibition at IFA, the global trade show for consumer electronics and home appliances.

Submission Deadline is April 29, 2016.

12 18German Design Award 2016: Eva Müller wins Newcomer Prize

Industrial designer Eva Muller is selected from over 150 young designers to win this prestigious award, designed to recognise promising new talent.

Great talents require a forum! The promotion of newcomers is therefore a matter of personal importance for the German Design Council. The German Design Award Newcomer distinction provides young designers with a platform to present their creative potential to a broad target audience and, in turn, receive the attention they deserve.

3 16The German Design Council announce an international congress happening in November, which will consider best practice in policy and strategy, the value of design, research and business.
