This year’s edition, the 28th, of Compasso D’Oro aims to enhance the idea of quality design that has always distinguished the award. This concept of quality has changed over the decades as it has mirrored the evolution of culture and society, yet it remains the point of reference for the award.
“This is a story that started in the distant past but which, in a sort of long now, has maintained coherence and the ability to develop proactive relationships on which to build an idea of civic community” underlines ADI President Luciano Galimberti.
The Compasso d’Oro is a prestigious design award, resulting from a rigorous three-stage process that includes an annual overview by the ADI Design Index, a two-year scientific selection by a multidisciplinary observatory, and a final evaluation by an international jury. This meticulous process, focused on honouring designs that embody the essence of Made in Italy, has awarded just over 370 Compasso d’Oro in its seventy-year history. Winning products are showcased at the ADI Design Museum, which since 2021 has played a vital role in promoting design culture globally through exhibitions and international tours, highlighting the evolution of quality and design from the 1950s to the present.
The 28th Compasso d’Oro takes place with the patronage and contribution of the Lombardy Region to whom sincere thanks are due.
