ADI Compasso d’Oro International Award at Expo 2025 Osaka

ADI launches a special edition of the Compasso d’Oro International Award: the global version of Italy’s largest design award that, through the selection of a multidisciplinary jury, will reward the most innovative and significant projects within the overall Expo 2025 Osaka themes. The competition, in collaboration with the General Commissioner for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka, is open to all designers from countries that will participate in the Expo. An exhibition of the award-winning products will open on 5 September 2025 in the Italian Pavilion.

The overall theme of the Compasso d’Oro International Award is inspired by that of Expo 2025 Osaka – Designing Future Society for our Lives – and is divided into three sub-themes to which design proposals will have to respond:

Saving Lives: protecting and saving the lives of individuals through measures against infectious diseases improving public health, prevention initiatives and reducing risk of natural disasters, harmonious coexistence with
nature.
Empowering Lives: enriching people’s lives and expanding their potential: distance education through ICT, promoting a healthy lifestyle to ensure greater longevity, maximizing human potential through AI and robotics.
Connecting Lives: building community and enriching society, power of partnership and co-creation, advanced communications and designing a data-driven society.

“The task that ADI sets itself with this international edition of the Compasso d’Oro is twofold,”
says Luciano Galimberti, ADI President.
“The goal is to share the method and values of Made in Italy with the world, but also to create an opportunity for comparison, thanks to the partnership with the Italian Pavilion.”
