BEDA Connect: Accessibility as Business Opportunity | 10 September

Accessibility should be the default, not the exception. Yet for accessibility to become embedded in everyday products, services, and experiences, it must be supported by strong business incentives, clear value creation, and sustainable implementation models.

This edition of BEDA Connect: Accessibility as Business Opportunity on 10 September from 16:00-17:15 CET explores how organisations can move beyond viewing accessibility as a compliance requirement and instead recognise it as a driver of innovation, resilience, market growth, and better user experiences. Through a moderated conversation with two expert speakers, we will discuss why making accessibility work for people also means making it work for business.

BEDA Connect is a public platform to raise awareness and share knowledge with the broader design sector and the interested public around the key objectives of MADres.

Speakers & Moderator

Myles Igwebuike (Nigeria/UK) — a designer, researcher, and cultural strategist working at the intersection of heritage, urbanism, and diplomacy. He’ll present a case study exploring an accessible e-learning library concept for a school for impaired learners in Nigeria, focusing on accessibility in education, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and how partnerships can unlock new opportunities.

Jeremy Hugh Aston (Portugal) — an award-winning industrial designer, educator, and researcher with over 30 years of experience across product, mobility, and healthcare design. In his talk “Design as an Opportunity for Inclusive Innovation”, he’ll present the FACS automotive research project as a case study in designing for diverse users and future mobility scenarios, and introduce a visual tool for spotting accessibility challenges and market opportunities.
