DCCI relaunches DesignIreland.ie
Design Ireland is dedicated to promoting and supporting the work of Irish designers and craftspeople domestically and internationally. The Design Ireland website was developed as a vehicle to attract and engage consumers and to direct them to sites where they could purchase craft online.
This dual role of raising the profile of Irish design and selected brands, along with the objective of ensuring these consumers can easily convert their interest into sales is a key component of the site.
Design Ireland website was initially developed in 2016 and since then has had several additional services and facilities added. In late 2019 DCCI commissioned a complete audit of the site to achieve the objectives set out – of raising the profile of craft and enabling visitors to easily and seamlessly purchase craft online. With newly commissioned video, photography and copy, the site now showcases:
• 152 Irish designers
• 1,327 products
• 34 studio experiences
DCCI also transformed all aspects of Design Ireland’s content strategy, from improved search engine optimisation (SEO), to the blog ‘Stories’, where curators can share our own insights, industry news and events, and thoughts and updates from Ireland’s leading design thinkers. This further reinforces the idea of Ireland’s vibrant design and craft community, and the dynamic sharing of ideas – especially through these unprecedented times.
The website relaunch has achieved results way beyond initial projections, since going live in early November, the site had a phenomenal increase in traffic on the same period last year. Each of these visits is a potential sale for Irish makers and designers, and through this site DCCI are helping them to grow their national and international platforms.
