From Ancient Anatolian Crafts to Contemporary Designs
Turkey Design Council has initiated the project, “From Ancient Anatolian Crafts to Contemporary Designs” financed by the EU under the “Grant Scheme for Common Cultural Heritage: Preservation and Dialogue between Turkey and the EU–II (CCH-II) with Brumen Foundation (Slovenia) and Traditional Arts Association (Turkey) as partners.
In this 15-month project, after the promotion of five Anatolian crafts to Europe by video documentaries, European designers will reinterpret ancient production traditions with their contemporary design approaches. Anatolian craftspeople and European designers will then collaborate in Turkey to bring to life new products, which will prepare the ground for knowledge transfer to future generations.
The objective is to develop cross-border cooperation between Turkey and Europe with the institutions from the field of design and to present the ancient traditional crafts of Anatolia by setting a precedent for how these crafts can be combined with contemporary design practices.
From Ancient Anatolian Crafts to Contemporary Design is supported under the “Grant Scheme for Common Cultural Heritage: Preservation and Dialogue between Turkey and the EU–II (CCH-II)” implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism with the financial support of the European Union.
