German Design Awards 2022. »Personality of the Year« David Chipperfield

The honorary title »Personality of the Year« of the German Design Awards 2022 goes to British architect Sir David Chipperfield. His architectural work is characterised by a clear, minimalist formal language, as well as his confident handling of light, space, and material. From this, Chipperfield developed an unmistakable style that he has continuously developed over the years.

With this distinction, the German Design Council honours Sir David Chipperfield for his outstanding achievements in architecture and design. In addition, Chipperfield received the German Federal Cross of Merit for his work and was raised to the peerage in Great Britain.
