Latvian Design Centre Takes the Lead for the Next Three Years of the National Design Award of Latvia
BEDA member Latvian Design Centre (LDC) will organise the National Design Award of Latvia—the country’s highest recognition in the field of design—for the next three years. This follows the successful work carried out by LDC during the previous award cycle from 2023 to 2025.
“We are proud of what we have achieved over the last three years. We see that the competition has not only strengthened public understanding of design in Latvia, but has also given designers confidence in the quality of their work and encouraged them to step onto the international stage—to take part in competitions, exhibitions, and fairs, thereby promoting not only their own work but also the recognition of Latvian design as a whole. We want to continue on this path over the next three years—to emphasise the importance of the design process and remind everyone that success requires persistence and purposeful development.”
– Dita Danosa, Director of the Latvian Design Centre and Board Member of BEDA
The first submission period for the National Design Award of Latvia 2026 has now opened and will run until 5 December 2025. Entries may be submitted in five categories: product design, service design, communication design, environmental design, and digital solutions. Works by emerging designers created as part of their studies will be evaluated separately.
The second submission round will open in February 2026. After each round, the selection jury will nominate the strongest entries. The finals are planned for early June, when an international jury will select the winners from among the nominees. Stay tuned!
