mcbw 2025–a Vibrant Celebration of Design, Innovation, and Community
The munich creative business week (mcbw) 2025, held from 10 to 18 May, once again proved to be an unmissable highlight in the design calendar. This year’s edition was packed with inspiring events, innovative showcases, and vibrant community engagement that brought together creatives, industry leaders, and design enthusiasts from around the world.
One key highlight was the mcbw design summit, which featured a stellar lineup of speakers, e.g. Tim Brown, Kim Dabbs and Ana Relvão discussing topics such as sustainable innovation, future-oriented design practices, and the transformative power of creativity in society. The summit fostered lively discussions and provided valuable insights into how design can address pressing global challenges, referring to mcbw’s annual theme „How to design a vibrant community“.
Throughout the week, mcbw’s pop-up events brought design directly into Munich’s lively streets. The mcbw pop-up x Designblok Cosmos at Königsplatz. This collaboration with the renowned Prague-based design festival offered a vibrant space where visitors could experience innovative projects and interact with designers from both regions. The event showcased creative exchanges and fostered cross-cultural dialogue in a dynamic outdoor setting.
At Viktualienmarkt, the mcbw pop-up x MA Identity Design (THA Augsburg) offered an intimate exploration of identity-driven projects that blend cultural narratives with contemporary aesthetics—highlighting how design can serve as a powerful storytelling tool and foster community connections.
Another exciting collaboration was the mcbw pop-up x Collective Paper Aesthetics x KURZ, which celebrated experimental paper art and visual storytelling by Dutch designer Noa Haim, known for interactive 3D paper sculptures that grow and change with audience participation. For mcbw 2025, in partnership with LEONHARD KURZ Foundation, visitors can help create a dynamic installation in FÜNF HÖFEN that evolved over nine days and was supported by the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Attendees engaged with tactile art forms that challenge traditional communication methods, emphasising craftsmanship and creative experimentation.
Overall, mcbw 2025 demonstrated once again how design acts as a catalyst for social change, innovation, and community cohesion. From high-level summits to street-level pop-ups, every event reflected a shared passion for pushing boundaries and exploring new possibilities.
Stay tuned for more detailed reports with insights and figures! mcbw will continue to be a vital platform where ideas flourish and meaningful connections are made in Munich 2026.
