New European Bauhaus Investment Guidelines Adopted
The European Commission has now adopted the New European Bauhaus Investment Guidelines, a tool designed to help private and public investors align their projects with the NEB values of sustainability, inclusion, and aesthetics to transform Europe’s built environment.
The New European Bauhaus Investment Guidelines support investors in making better-informed decisions by offering them an overview of how and why NEB can add value to them and their shareholders and stakeholders.
The guidelines consist of two main components supporting its two main goals:
- General advice should help investors, developers, and project owners better understand what the NEB is and how it concretely links to the different aspects and stages of investment and project development. This will show why aligning to NEB values and principles adds value for investors and society, how the NEB relates to different types of built environment investors, and how it can benefit various types of built environment projects.
- Concrete recommendations should help shape high-quality projects in line with the NEB values and principles. The recommendations also show how such actions can provide immediate benefits to investors, as well as drawing attention to challenges and ways to mitigate them.
By embracing the NEB values and principles, the guidelines help investors understand non-financial benefits and mitigate costs, supporting them in implementing projects that would be long-lasting, going beyond purely financial considerations. By integrating aesthetics, sustainability and inclusiveness, the NEB adds a unique quality to investment projects, making them appealing to investors seeking sustainable and impactful projects.
