‘Walking the unthinkable’, a must-see at the 10th National Meeting of Design Associations of Spain

The Spanish Network of Design Associations (READ) and the Galician Design Association (DAG) continue to work for the celebration of the 10th National Meeting of Design Associations of Spain in Pontevedra, a ‘person-centred city model’ whose achievements in this regard have been internationally recognized.
The opening day, Friday 21
October, will revolve around the theme ‘sustainable cities’ while Saturday 22 Oct will follow the theme ‘inclusive city’.

Every week 1.5 million people move to urban areas around the world in search of opportunity and a better life, but what do cities offer us? As designers we have the opportunity to rethink them and design them to be friendly and accessible places for all people.

‘Walking the unthinkable’
In addition to all the information and program already announced, which includes six wortables, conferences, round tables and very promising debates, we highlight an activity that will take place in parallel: ‘Walking the unthinkable’, by the working group ‘Gráficas en Negro’ and created to make us reflect on the role of design in urban planning, the habitability and usability of cities, with a program configured around the gender perspective and whose programming will continue beyond the
10ENAD, specifically until 25 November – International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

A black triangle, a unique space that will be installed at Montero Ríos Street, will be an architectural element in dialogue with the city itself, with the aim of maintaining an open and participatory debate with the public on city-feminism-design through different interventions. Four college-degrees related to creativity and design from the
Pontevedra Campus -that belongs to the University of Vigo- will take part in them.

Linked to WDC Valéncia 2022
Besides, the 10ENAD adds a different experience this year since it will also be virtually in World Design Capital València 2022. Thus, on both days, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., it will be possible to follow this National Meeting live from
Ágora Valéncia, an architectural space in the heart of the city of València, opening both the 10ENAD and the design to the general public and the citizen participation.
