We Know What the Future Holds. Are We Ready?

The Institute of Designers Ireland has published Design 2035: Pathways to the Future, serving as a call to action for designers, policy makers and design educators alike.

Commissioned under Ireland’s Roadmap for Digital Creative Industries 2024–26 and supported by Creative Ireland, this research maps the future of design across enterprise, public services, education, and government. The findings are both exciting and sobering.

This research shows that design is a strategic opportunity for Ireland, essential to driving innovation, competitiveness, and sustainable growth in a rapidly changing world. To realise this potential, Ireland must invest in skills, collaboration, and leadership, with government embedding design into policy and innovation to support national priorities.
