Topic: The Making of Irish Design Week
Host: Tom Watts – Design and Crafts Council of Ireland/BEDA
Irish Design Week is now in it’s 3rd year and has been building on themes of diversity, inclusion and circularity since it’s debut in 2022, when Bruce Mau gave his take on what Ireland should be doing to prepare for the next decade.
Last year’s folklore theme tapped into Ireland’s rich storytelling heritage, and looked at whether Ireland should be “walking backwards into the future”.
BEDA board member Tom Watts will share some recollections and learnings from the experience of helping to build a new platform for Irish designers which not only celebrates and interrogates what Irish Design is, but also imagines how it can play a leading role in building the Ireland of tomorrow.
Open to all BEDA Members, the BEDA Open Door Dialogue (ODD) is an ongoing series of dialogues with a dedicated topic discussing industry-relevant topics. The dialogues take place once per month.
