Who We Are
bayern design is the international design competence center in Bavaria and provides a focal point for knowledge sharing and collaboration about design. Our projects are dedicated to highlighting the importance of the key role design plays in the management of economic, societal, and sustainable transformation.
What We Do
With a variety of different projects, we underscore the importance of design and the key role it plays in managing economic, social and sustainable change.
We support the implementation of the Free State of Bavaria’s design funding and promote the networking of designers and stakeholders from all disciplines, companies, universities, institutions and associations.
Since 2012, bayern design hosts munich creative business week (mcbw), the largest event of its kind in Germany, for designers and their clients.
bayern design maintains and moderates professional interdisciplinary networks, and organizes events, exhibitions, and trade-fair presentations. It offers presentation opportunities, promotes education and further training in the design field, and conducts research jointly with colleges and universities. In addition, bayern design develops competitions and design awards for the industrial and public sectors, coordinates state-funded design enterprises and projects.
The center is sponsored by the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy and by bayern design forum e.V., its supporting association of medium-sized companies and agencies.
