‘Me’ Concept by PDR Wins an IDEA Award 2024
PDR is very proud to announce that they have picked up a bronze award at the IDEA awards for the design concept ‘Me’.
About ‘Me’
Perimenopause and menopause is estimated to effect over 75% of all women adversely, causing significant impacts to health, wellbeing, work and relationships. ‘Me’ is a breakthrough integrated care system, designed to support the millions of women suffering with menopausal symptoms. It enables continuous monitoring of hormone levels alongside access to reliable information and support schemes which allow users an unprecedented ability to understand and manage their menopause symptoms.
About IDEA
This is the 44th edition of the annual International Design Excellence Awards, which are organised by the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA). IDEA recognises innovation in design and related fields including design strategy, branding, digital interface, and are renowned as one of the most esteemed design awards programmes in the world.
The Process
When shaping Me’s visual identity PRD wanted to avoid the clinical aesthetic that is often associated with medical products. Instead, the design team took design cues from lifestyle products and other assistive designs such as the Tabu sanitary product carry case. Focusing on a renewed design of the applicator was also key for us due to the amount of similar products that go straight to landfill after single use. As such PDR has integrated rechargeable elements into the concepts to enable disassembly into correct waste streams.
Upon learning about the PDR’s win, Carmen Wong, Lead Industrial Designer said:
“We’re very proud to have won an IDEA award for Me. It was a really interesting project for the team to work on and for it to gain some recognition, especially considering its association with such an under-addressed issue, is really satisfying.”
