PDR’s ReGen Wins Red Dot Design Concept Award 2024
About the Red Dot Design Awards
Held annually, the Red Dot Design Awards recognise outstanding design in product, communication, and design concepts. The ‘Red Dot’ distinction is globally acknowledged as a mark of quality design.
According to Red Dot: “With design concepts, the jury spend considerable effort to understand the idea behind the project, in addition to assessing the design quality. Throughout the process, the jury were excited to see a high level of participation and creativity.”
About the iCandy ReGen
The ReGen is PDR‘s design concept for leading British pushchair manufacturer, iCandy. After identifying a largely unmet desire for a more sustainable design approach, PDR set about creating a pushchair that embraced circular design principles and did not compromise on quality, functionality or marketability.
The features that enhance the pushchair’s sustainability include a long-lasting core chassis made from aluminium and a glass reinforced mass balanced bio-polymer intended to serve for a minimum of 5 ownership cycles. PDR also emphasised replaceable components and covers to enable personal customisation between owners and hide potential cosmetic damage. Finally, an emphasis was placed on easy disassembly and component recycling of the product, enabling individual parts to be separated into relevant waste streams.
This is the 3rd award win for the iCandy ReGen this year, following its recognition from the Green Good Design Award and the IF Design Awards.
