Marika Aakesson

Mission Statement

Marika Aakesson, a seasoned industrial designer and educator, brings extensive experience in sustainable design, interdisciplinary collaboration, and leadership within the design community. As a professor at IED and a member of the ADI Executive Board, Marika has championed design’s role in creating value through innovative, sustainable solutions. Her work spans projects in healthy aging, circular economy, and regenerative tourism, showcasing design’s potential to foster positive change across various sectors. Committed to advancing transdisciplinary design and green transition, Marika aims to leverage her expertise to enhance BEDA’s impact on European policies, promoting design as a catalyst for sustainable development and social improvement.
